Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 10, 2026 · 日本語

Nova Link ("the Service") is a social networking service for relaying and sharing links. This policy explains what information the Service collects, and how that information is used and stored.

This is an English translation provided for reference. The Japanese version is the authoritative text; if the two differ, the Japanese version prevails.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: username, display name, email address, and password (stored as a hash; never stored in plain text)
  • If you sign in with Google: your Google account identifier (Google ID), email address, display name, and profile image. These are obtained with your consent through Google's sign-in screen. The Service never receives or stores your Google account password.
  • Profile information: your bio and icon image (if you choose to upload one)
  • Post information: post text, shared link URLs, attached photos, comments, likes, and follow relationships
  • Chat (direct message) information: message text, attached images, timestamps, and the read position indicating how far the other party has read
  • Call information: records of joining and leaving calls (when, and which community call room). The audio itself is not recorded or stored.
  • Interest and activity information: the genres you selected during initial setup, your history of likes, views and comments, and the accounts you follow
  • Automated analysis results: the "genre" and the "sensitive content" classification that the Service determines automatically, on its own servers, from your post text and attached images (see "7. Automated Analysis of Post Content")
  • Technical information: the authentication token used to keep you signed in (stored in your browser's local storage on your device; we do not use cookies for this — see "3. Cookies")

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide the features of the Service (posting, feed display, following, likes, comments, chat, calls, and so on)
  • To authenticate your account and keep you signed in
  • To automatically classify the genre of posts and to personalize the order of posts shown in your recommended feed
  • To blur posts that may contain sensitive content until you choose to view them
  • To investigate problems and improve the Service
  • To evaluate and prepare for future advertising (as described in "4. Advertising", no advertising is currently served; the Service is still in preparation)

3. Cookies

The Service itself does not currently use cookies to keep you signed in; authentication information is stored in your browser's local storage on your device.

However, we are preparing to introduce advertising through Google AdSense (currently under review and in preparation; no advertising is actually displayed at this time). If advertising begins, cookies will be used as described in "4. Advertising". We will announce the timing of any introduction by updating this policy.

4. Advertising

The Service is preparing to introduce advertising through Google AdSense. At present, AdSense is under review and in preparation, and no advertising is being served. This section describes, in advance, what will apply if advertising begins.

If advertising begins, third-party vendors including Google may use cookies to serve ads. Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your prior visits to the Service or other websites (personalized advertising).

You may opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. You may also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.

5. External Requests When Sharing Links

When you include a URL in a post, the Service's server accesses the linked page to retrieve preview information such as the title, description, and thumbnail image. We may also use an external favicon service to display site icons. As a result of these requests, the operator of the linked site may record an access originating from the Service.

6. Uploaded Images

Files uploaded as post photos or icon images are stored on the Service's servers and retained until you delete the post or your account.

7. Automated Analysis of Post Content

The Service automatically analyzes the text and images you post in order to perform automatic genre classification and sensitive-content classification. It may also estimate whether a region (prefecture or place name) or university name is mentioned in your post text. The scope and handling of that analysis are as follows.

  • What is analyzed: post text, the URL and title of any shared link, and images attached to the post (the resized copy used for display)
  • About region/university estimation: this is only an inference from words contained in the post text, and does not verify your actual place of residence or affiliation. The estimated result is used only internally to optimize recommendations and is never shown to other users. It is also never automatically saved to your profile (such as an affiliated university or region). This estimation feature can be disabled by the operator.
  • Where the analysis happens: entirely within the Service's own servers. We never transmit your post text or images to any external AI service, generative AI, cloud API, or any other third party. The Service's automatic classification is designed not to use any external API.
  • What is stored: only the classification results — the determined genre name, a confidence value, and whether the post was judged sensitive — associated with the post.
  • How the results are used: solely to optimize the recommended feed (prioritizing posts in genres close to your interests) and to blur posts judged sensitive until you choose to view them.
  • Review and correction by administrators: to correct errors in automatic classification, administrators of the Service may manually review and change a post's classification. When doing so, an administrator views the post text, its attached image, and the classification result.
  • Improving accuracy: only classifications that an administrator has manually confirmed are used to improve the classifier. Automatic classification results are never used as training data on their own.

Image analysis is performed with an image-recognition model placed on the Service's servers in advance; images are never sent outside the Service for analysis. After analysis, where images are stored and who can see them remain exactly as described in "6. Uploaded Images" and "10. Visibility of Your Information" — automated analysis does not change either.

8. Personalization of the Recommended Feed

The Service adjusts the order of posts in your "recommended" feed for each user. This adjustment uses the following information.

  • The genres you selected as interests during initial setup
  • Your history of likes, views and comments, and the accounts you follow
  • The genre classification of posts, as described in "7. Automated Analysis of Post Content"

All of this information is stored on the Service's servers and is used only to optimize recommendations and to provide the Service. We do not provide it to third parties for advertising purposes. Ad personalization by Google AdMob / AdSense is a separate matter, handled as described in "4. Advertising".

If you delete your account, this interest and activity information is deleted as well (see "12. Deleting Your Account").

9. Disclosure to Third Parties

Except as required by law, we do not sell or provide the information we collect to third parties without your consent. In particular, we never transmit post text or post images to any external AI service or third party, for automated analysis or for any other purpose (see "7. Automated Analysis of Post Content"). As noted in "4. Advertising", once advertising begins, third-party vendors including Google may handle information through cookies and similar technologies.

10. Visibility of Your Information

Your posts, display name, username, icon image, and follower and following counts are visible to other users of the Service. We do not currently offer a setting to make these private.

11. Chat (Direct Messages)

Chat is available only between users who follow each other. Chats never appear in the timeline.

  • What we store: message text, attached images, timestamps, and the read position are stored on the Service's servers.
  • Encryption: communications are encrypted in transit (HTTPS/WSS), but we do not use end-to-end encryption. This means we are technically able to access message content where necessary — for example, for system maintenance, to comply with a lawful request, or to respond to a report.
  • Not subject to automated analysis: chat text is not analyzed by the genre classification or sensitive-content detection described in "7. Automated Analysis of Post Content".
  • Blocking and reporting: you can block other users, which prevents messages from being sent or received between you. You can also report content to us, either for a specific post or for a user.

12. Calls

Voice calls are available in community call rooms.

  • How audio travels: call audio uses WebRTC and, as a rule, is exchanged directly between participants' devices. Our servers only relay the information needed to establish the connection (signaling). Depending on network conditions a relay server may be used, but even then audio is never recorded or stored.
  • Microphone: we ask for microphone permission when you join a call. You can revoke this at any time in your device settings.
  • What we store: only records of joining and leaving calls (when, and which call room). These are used to provide the calling feature and to investigate problems.

13. Retention Period

Information associated with your account is retained for as long as the account exists. Posts and comments are retained until you delete them.

14. Deleting Your Account

If you wish to delete your account, please see the Account Deletion page, which explains the procedure, the types of data that are deleted, and how long deletion takes.

15. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it and take other appropriate action. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to the Service, please contact us at the address below.

Age verification: the Service does not currently ask for a date of birth or perform any age verification, and does not hold your age or age bracket. As a result, there is no mechanism that restricts features or content by age. Being 13 or older is based on your own declaration.

Contact from strangers: chat (direct messages) is available only between users who follow each other. You will not receive unsolicited messages from users you do not know. You can block users you do not wish to hear from, and you can report content to us, either for a specific post or for a user.

16. Creator Rewards Program

This section describes the Creator Rewards Program for community operators. This program is not currently offered and is not shown in the app. If we begin offering it, we will announce this by updating this policy.

Collection of Ad Impression Data

The Service collects estimated per-impression revenue data through Google AdMob's Impression-Level Ad Revenue Data (ILRD) feature. This is an internal reference figure used by us to understand our own revenue, and is not used to identify individuals.

Revenue from Google AdMob and Google AdSense is not used to fund the Creator Rewards Program. This is because the terms of those services prohibit sharing such revenue with third parties without Google's written authorization. Rewards are funded only by revenue from advertising other than AdMob — that is, advertising we place under direct contracts with advertisers.

For advertising we place under direct contracts, we also count impressions and clicks. These are aggregated as totals per advertisement, and we do not disclose to third parties which user clicked which advertisement. To limit how often an advertisement is shown, we retain, for a limited period (30 days), the time at which each advertisement was last shown to each user.

Creator Rewards and Bank Account Information

If a community operator participates in this program, we may ask them to register bank account information (bank name, branch name, account type, account number, and account holder name) so that payments can be transferred. The account number is stored encrypted and is used only for the purpose of transferring payments. It is not provided to third parties. When an account is closed, or when a participant leaves this program, we delete the registered account information except where retention is required by law.

Tax-Related Information

In connection with payouts, we may be required by law to prepare and submit payment records. In such cases, we may retain your name, address, account information, and similar details to the extent necessary.
